Management

What is Community Child Care?

Unlike private child care centres, community child care centres are not run for profit.  Our primary aim is to probed high quality care to children in our community and all profits are ploughed back into the service.  The other significant differences between community child care centres and most private child care centres is that community child care is based on a model of parental participation in decision making.

Management Structure and Administration:

This is your Centre to enjoy.  As a community based centre, we welcome your participation as a parent and strongly encourage you to make suffestions and to become actively involced.

THe Centre is run by a Managememt Committee, comprising both staff (including the Directors) and parent members from our three sites (Unley, Parkside & OSHC).  The three office bearers (Chariperson, Secretary and TReasurer) are parents.  People on the Committee have a significant influence on the general feel and running ofhte Centre.  Committee Members are elected at the Annual General Meeting, held in April each year.  Responsibilities of this Committee include choosing new staff, and deciding on ploicies and spending priorities.

The Managment Committee must meet at least ten times each year.  All members of the Centre, committee and non-committeee members alike, may contribute to the agenda of these metings by contacting the Chariperson, Secretary or Directors.

General Meetings, including the Annual General Meeting, must be held at elast twice a year.  Centeral meeting will be called to approve the Budget or it a change to policy or athe spending of money requires teh approval of members.

Parents also play an important role int he general maintenance of the Centre.  working bees are held from time to time and parents are encouraged to participate.  The Centre also encourages otehr types of assisance, e.g. services, products, skills, time, fund-raising.

During the year we organise a number of opportunities for you to meet other parents.
